On June 21st, the MRKH Australia Conference brought together a powerful community of women, advocates, and medical professionals at the Royal Hospital for Women in Randwick, NSW to share stories, knowledge, and support for those affected by Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser (MRKH) syndrome. Among the inspiring speakers was Associate Professor Rebecca Deans, a leading figure in paediatric and adolescent gynaecology and a passionate advocate for women’s reproductive rights.
Dr Deans, who works at the Royal Hospital for Women and UNSW, has long been a dedicated supporter of MRKH Australia and its mission. Her work in fertility, including groundbreaking research in uterus transplantation, has opened new doors for women who previously had limited options for having children. Her presence at the conference was not only educational but deeply affirming for attendees navigating the complexities of MRKH.
As part of her ongoing commitment to advocacy and education, Dr Deans generously donates her time to causes like MRKH Australia, helping raise awareness and push for the funding needed to support women living with this condition. The Royal Hospital for Women and the Royal Hospital for Women Foundation provided support for the meeting.
Her message was clear: every woman deserves the right to choose her path to motherhood, and with continued research and community support, that path is becoming more accessible.“Every woman deserves hope—and a real path to motherhood.”
We extend our heartfelt thanks to MRKH Australia for hosting such a meaningful event and for continuing to provide a safe, empowering space for these women.
